How to Make a Beaded Crochet Star Ornament

What you'll need:
  • yarn (any type works)
  • hook (sized to match yarn of your choice)
  • sewing needle (don't worry, you won't be sewing)
  • 2-3" of thread
  • scissors
  • 5 medium sized beads (must be large enough to pass over your sewing needle)

Before you start:

Thread all 5 of the beads.  If your beads are large enough to simply slip onto the yarn, you can skip onto the next section.  If you have trouble fitting the beads onto your yarn, use this simple trick to thread them:
  1. Take your thread and thread the sewing needle.  Knot the thread.  Take the end of your yarn and insert it into the loop formed by your knotted thread.

  2. Place a bead on your sewing needle and pull it down over the thread and onto your yarn.

Begin Crocheting

1. ch 5, ss to form a small loop

2. ch3 (this counts as your first dc), dc 14 times into the loop
    Total: 15 stitches

3. ch4, pull up one bead, form 1 more ch over the bead

4. ss in the 1st ch from the hook, sc in the next ch, dc in the next ch, tr in the last ch.  This forms the first point of your star with one bead at the point.  ss into the 3rd dc from the previous row to anchor this point.

5. Repeat step 4 above 4 more times to form the next 4 points of the star.

 6. Fasten off, and you are done!
