Just this past Friday I celebrated the sale of my first non-commissioned painting. I woke up this morning to see that this pelican is also going to be flying out to his new home in Maine this week. :-)
These two sales meant a lot to me. I love making art, but it can be really discouraging to see your paintings start collecting dust. It is so nice to feel appreciated and supported.
Thanks for everyone who has encouraged me with my artwork!
I'm really excited to report that I've sold my first original, non-commissioned artwork on Etsy!
Don't get me wrong, I've sold other portraits and paintings, but so far they have all been special requests for new artwork. I feel like it's a big accomplishment.
ALSO, this sale was my 300th sale on Etsy! Woo hoo for milestones!!!
New Storenvy site
Just as a head's up for those of you who follow along, I'm working on opening a new store front through Storenvy.
I'll be gradually uploading products this month and changing a few of my links to point to that site.
How does Storenvy work?
It's very much like any other e-commerce site. You do not have to create an account to make a purchase (just choose "guest" at checkout). Payments are processed through PayPal. So it's really very similar to the way Etsy is set up.
Why the change?
While I've really enjoyed selling on Etsy, they charge listing, renewal, and commission fees. It's not much, but when you have over 100 items, it does add up. Storenvy also allows me to do a lot more customization than Etsy.
What about you Etsy shop?
It's going to stay online, but I may eventually take some of my under-performing products off my Etsy shop and put them on Storenvy so I can save myself the cost of renewals on Etsy.

Happy National Pet Day!
I'm celebrating with a contest that will run through the end of the month, and the prize will be one of my popular winter hats (Santa, elf, beanie - winner gets to choose).
You can participate on my Facebook page, you'll just need your pet's head measurement and a photo to join in the fun.
It's official, Aegean Drawn is now 1 year old.
I opened my Etsy shop a year ago today, and I'm grateful for all of my faithful followers and my family and friends who encouraged me to set up shop last year. I had a really slow, and to be honest, discouraging start, but I'm so glad I didn't give up. I feel like I've learned a lot, and I'm looking forward to an even better year. :-)
A few months ago I released a tutorial on how to create some of the mosaic shell art pieces that I put up in my shop. My goal was to make it so that anyone with a printer, some shells, and a hot glue gun could tackle one of these beautiful projects. I even went so far as to include templates and color guides to help with the placement of the shells.
I've only sold one copy of the pattern/templates so far, but I wanted to test the process myself though with the aim of updating the tutorial with better photos in the near future. So I printed out one of my template drawings and the color guide and photographed the process.
I'm really happy with how it turned out and can't wait to add the new photos to the pattern. :-)
For those interested, you can find the full pattern (including the 5 free templates and color guides) in my Etsy shop here:

I've been wanting to expand into making my own prints for a while now. I have an account set up on Fine Art America where people can purchase art prints, but I haven't been really happy with it. It's easy to use, but I very very rarely sell anything and even when I do, I get a very small commission for each print.
So I went to a photography shop last week and finally got a print made of my favorite painting. I'm pretty happy with the result. I got the print done a bit bigger than the actual painting, just to see how it would turn out. I think it looks really good.
So I'm going to make it a goal to research this a bit further and start offering prints by summer. I'll keep you posted.
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't published anything for a while.
It's true, I was extremely busy starting around November. One of my Christmas products really took off in my Etsy shop and I was crocheting up to 5 items a day just to keep up there for a while.
I'm trying to play catch up now that things have calmed down. I'm really glad to have had the experience though, I learned a lot! And I'm grateful for all of my customers.
Thanks and I hope the new year is off to a good start for everyone!

I've been working to migrate all of my kids coloring pages over to this blog. It's just easier manage and find things if I keep it all in one place.
Most of the pages are now available on this site. You can find a guide to the pages available and my usage policy here: http://www.aegeandrawn.com/2015/09/coloring-pages.html

Good news, I've added more free goodies!
Today I added an illustrated pattern for how to make a simple crochet shawl. You can find it here:

It's come to my attention that Blogger pretty drastically reduces the size of the images that I upload. As many of my readers know, that's a big problem when you want to print an image. I'm working on putting the images up on Pinterest here:
Follow Rebecca's board Coloring Pages on Pinterest.
In the meantime, I've also put together 4 of the most popular coloring pages sets, zipped them (so that you can download all of them in one click), and put them on dropbox so I can share them with everyone. In the meantime, I hope this works well for everyone!
