Shawl Stitch Diagram Explained

For those of you who HATE diagrams, I thought I'd take a minute to translate this one out.  I'm not sure where the original Russian pattern comes from, but I found it via Pinterest on this blog: http://guiaparatejerbien.foroactivo.com/t8532-chales-a-crochet-en-ruso

Now...Here's now to make it (with photos!)  It's actually quite easy and only uses two stitches and two different stitch patterns.

Stitches used:
ch = chain
tr = treble crochet

Row 1: ch6 (counts as tr1, ch2), tr1 in the 1st (starting) ch, ch4, tr 1 in the 1st ch, ch2, tr1 in the first ch, ch4, tr 1 in the 1st ch, ch2, tr1 in the first ch.

Row 1

Row 2: ch6, tr7 in the ch 4 sp, ch2, tr1 in the ch2 sp, ch2, tr7 in the ch4 sp, ch2, skip 1 ch, tr in the next ch

Row 2

Row 3: ch6, (tr1, ch4, tr1) in the ch2 sp, ch2, skip the next 2 sts, tr1 in each of the next 3 sts, ch2, skip the next 2 sts, skip the ch2 sp, (tr1, ch4, tr1, ch2, tr1, ch4, tr1) in the next st (this is the middle of the shawl and will form the point), ch2, skip the ch sp, skip the next 2 sts, tr1 in each of the next 3 sts, ch 2, skip the next 2 sts, (tr1, ch4, tr1) in the ch sp, ch2, tr in the 3rd ch.

Row 3

For the rest of the shawl, you will simply work repetitions of these two stitch patterns, as follows:

Even rows here and throughout: ch6 to start the row, ch2, *[tr 7 in the ch4 sp, ch2, skip 1 st, tr 1 (this will fall in the middle of the tr3 cluster from the previous row), ch 2].  Repeat from * all the way across the row, end with 1 tr in the 3rd ch.

Row 4 and remaining even rows

Odd rows here and throughout: ch6, (tr, ch4, tr) in the ch 2 sp, ch2 *[skip the next 2 sts, tr 1 in each of the next 3 stitches, skip the next 2 stitches, ch2, skip the ch2 sp, (tr, ch4, tr) in the next st, ch2, skip the ch2 sp]. Repeat from * all the way to the center point (your last tr, ch4, tr group will be in the center stitch).  At the point,ch2, work another (tr, ch4, tr) in the same center stitch, ch2, skip the ch2 space, and resume from * all the way to the end.  To end the row, (tr, ch4, tr) in the last ch2 sp, ch2, and tr in the 3rd ch.

Row 5 and all remaining odd rows
