I was really happy with the way this scarf turned out so I wanted to share the very simple stitch pattern used to create it. It was inspired by Haak Trend's Boho Poncho pattern and uses some of the same stitches. I love how thick and long this one turned out. You can modify it if you'd like, but without further adieu, here is how to make it.
What you need:
Yarn:
Chunky or bulky yarn (size 5/6)
OR
2 strands aran/worsted crocheted together
Hook:
8mm / L / 11 crochet hook.
Note: You can make this with thinner yarns very easily. Just use the appropriate hook size for your yarn type and adjust the length of the starting chain accordingly.
Begin by making a starting chain that measures approximately 60" in length. For me, this was about 130 chains, but it might be different depending on your yarn weight. Join to form a loop, scarf will be worked in the round.
Row 1: ch3 (counts as dc), dc in each ch, ss to join
Row 2: ch4 (counts as dc1 ch1), skip 1 st, *[dc in the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st]. Repeat from * until end of row, ss to join.
Row 3: ch3 (counts as dc), dc 1 in each ch 1 space and 1 in each dc all the way around
Row 4: *[ch5, skip 1 st, sc in the next st]. Repeat from * all the way around, ss to join. (Note: the loops will get a bit bunched up, this will resolve itself over the next 2 rows)
Row 5: ss into the next loop, sc in the loop, ch3 *[sc in the next loop, ch3], repeat from * until end of row, ss to join
Row 6: ch3 (counts as dc), dc 1 in each ch 3 sp and 1 in each sc all the way around, ss to join
Row 7: repeat row 2
Row 8: repeat row 3, fasten off
