Mario Halloween Costume

What do you do when your kids are obsessed with a video game?  Make epic Halloween costumes of course!
I'm a big fan of DIY meaning actual DIY - as in you don't have to go buy 80 different things from home stores or have super human abilities in order to assemble them.  These costumes were made with simple felt material that can be purchased from JoAnn Fabrics or Walmart.  They were assembled with hot glue (literally, no sewing)

For the Mario hat, I used an adaptation of this hat pattern:

You could absolutely sew it as she did, but I was in a hurry and given that I used felt as my material, hot glue worked just fine.  I just cut the same shapes and assembled the same way with glue rather than stitches.  :-)

The goomba was only marginally harder to make because I didn't have a pattern.  I drew out the basic shapes I needed on my felt, cut them out, and hot glued them on, just as I did with the Mario hat.

And here is our bonus Mario pumpkin.
Happy Halloween!
